help with church steeple render

Hoping to get some help with getting church steeple tops (cross) to render. I’m a new user. Thanks.

Please add some screenshots from your 3ds. Sometimes spikey things are left out of the automatic reconstruction region, so you might be able to just raise the height of it to include the steeple.

I deleted the mesh. I am now trying to run the data set again, after updating to v1.4 and I get multiple components on my alignment. Previously on v1.3 every time I ran the data set i would get 1 component with maybe 1-2 cameras not aligned. I’m going to have to merge the components and this will be my first time doing so. I will post some screenshots when I get a mesh. Thank you.

I do understand your original comment and that isn’t the case. I set the reconstruction region to include it. It rendered the upright portion but not the horizontal portion.


Struggled to get this today. The older version I was able to get alot better mesh. This is on the default settings.

Hi, you can revert to version 1 of the depth maps in the reconstruction settings.

It looks like the steeple was either shot from a long way away or with very low res photos, the resolution looks really low.

Be sure to place your control points with pixel level precision, and try to avoid placing CPs if the angle of incidence is very low, as even the tiniest misplacement can mean a big difference in depth. A badly placed control point will do more harm than good.
