How do I keep my landscape material from looking plastic when viewed from far away? Also it seems to lose too much texture detail even when not that far.
All the foliage and trees disappear too. I guess for the grass its ok but it doesn’t look right when even trees disappear.

Have you hooked up the Specularity pin in the landscape material? This in one of the rare cases where changing specularity leads to better results. I don’t remember whether you should set it low or high, but this video by Unreal Sensei covers the plasticky look.
