I’ve downloaded the Open World Demo Collection and added it to a 4.8.0 project I started. Unfortunately, I cannot see the assets in the engine to use them. I realized that this collection is rather large and may take some time to expand into the program so I left the engine up all day (at least 12 hours), no luck. I’ve verified the collection three times and restarted the project each time before adding the collection to it.
Could someone tell me how to make this assets accessible for use in 4.8.0?
Thanks in advance
ps
I initially tried to use engine 4.7.6 with the collection but had the same results.
I fully uninstalled Unreal Engine 4.8, removed all items from the vault, and deleted all projects. I then ran a registry cleaner to remove any trace statements referencing the unreal engine.
Downloading the Engine 4.8 fresh and only downloading the Open World Demo collection ensuring I selected the version for 4.8. I created a project and then saved it. I applied the OWDC to the project, waited 90 minutes and then opened the Engine and project, OWDC is still not showing up for use as an asset.
Does this Demo Collection work with 4.8? If so, what could I be doing wrong? Is there a manual way to decompress and appropriately load the collection?
Try going to C:/Program Files/Unreal Engine/Launcher/VaultCache, all the stuff in your vault should be there and you may be able to copy&paste the folders into your projects content folder.
I haven’t tried it but just thought about it, could work?
