Help on parry mechanic set up?

Hello, I currently have an issue when creating a parry mechanic in my project and would like to see if anyone can help with this. I currently have the animation tied to a Notify BP waiting to receive valid damage from the attacker. The function checks if the player has received any damaged and if they did a deflect animation should play if they didn’t then a failure animation would play instead. I got both resolutions to work but am running into a weird issue in which the player deflects automatically every time they receive damage. What can I do to avoid this? Thanks in advance!
