Hi guys,
I need to make a giant spiders web that can be torn and broken in specific places as you solve some puzzles around it…
My first thought was to just use a flat pane with an image of a spiders web on with opacity. I’d then set up some clothing simulations and have the physics engine simulate some tearing, however it would seem based on my googling that as of UE 4.24 this is not an option since there is no tearing feature within the engine.
So another thought I now have is to build a physical mesh or the cobweb within maya and set up a fairly dense joint system for it to simulate almost like rope or fabric. Then for the taring I’d break the connection between the two joints I need to break like in the image I attached.
This is how I presume this guy has done his link breaking system but i can’t seem to find any tutorials on how it actually works.
Can anyone here think of a solution for doing something like this?? or know of any tutorials which might point me in the right direction at least?
