Help me with a crash I'm getting with TW EDU 2023.1.2

System Info:

Windows 10 Pro

i5-13600KF

32 GB DDR5 RAM

150 GB virtual memory

Radeon RX 6700 10GB

Ever since a week ago I'm getting a consistent crash that seems to happen at random times in a working session in the viewport no matter what I'm doing. Sometimes it happens right when I'm loading a file, sometimes it happens 10m after. The program has been working fine for the last 6 months or so

Here is an example of the crash screens I'm getting:

Screenshot 2Screenshot 1

Sometimes I don't get a crash report at all, it just opens Epic launcher again. Sometimes the reported address is 0x0000000 or 0x0000000cc

I've tried lowering settings to the minimum, reseating the GPU card, reseating the RAM sticks, increasing the virtual memory, disabling antivirus, disabling the firewall, deleting temporary files in the AppData folder, reinstalling the OS, reinstalling graphic drivers, reinstalling Epic launcher and reinstalling Twinmotion, nothing has worked so far.

I once got this other warning screen just from launching the default scene where a texture map is reported as missing when it's not (I looked for the file and it was there):

Error warningI did have an XMP profile loaded so I undid that in BIOS and then I reinstalled the OS and everything just in case a file was corrupted but that has not made much difference.

The issue happens with all project files and becomes more common the more complex the scene is, my projects range from 800mb to 1GB but it happens even with the default scene.

I still have to do more testing to see if the graphics card got damaged somehow but it's been working fine so far. A warning sign is that I've also been getting "spear like" graphical glitches in the viewport where a particular poligon has been stretched out to infinite but I haven't been able to get a screenshot of that so far, this has never happened before.

Just an update in case someone is reading as I've done some progress:

These crashes seem to be connected to file corruption. I don't know why these TWN files keep getting corrupted but there is a correlation between using my Radeon graphic card and getting corrupted files. Testing with my other Nvidia card does not reproduce any of these issues so it seems to be a problem with the AMD driver or the AMD card itself

Hi ,

If you're still getting these crashes, please submit a bug report at https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/case-community-page and be sure to include the following so our support team can assist:

  • A copy of the crash log files (https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/article/Where-to-find-Twinmotion-log-file)
  • A copy of the file that appears to be corrupted
  • A copy of your computer's DxDiag report
  • If possible, screenshots of those graphical glitches you mentioned

With all of that we might be able to figure out exactly what is going wrong.

Best,

Raghib
