Ok so i went into the project settings and clicked shipping and then started it, once it was done it saved to a folder on my desktop with the .exe and all other kinds of files and folders! i dont want these, I just want to send my friend the .exe so he can try out the game… Is there a way to do that? OR do i have to send the folder with the .exe and everything else in it? Please help!
You will have to create a custom installer (search for it here in the documentation: Unreal Engine 4 Documentation | Unreal Engine Documentation) -> those files are needed for the game. 
Otherwise just send them the whole folder
