Help! Can unreal run okay on these specs? (Core i7 6500u, gtx 940mx 4gb ddr3 vram, 16gb ram)

I have looked at official requirements but i would like to know from people who actually used it.

For my Computer Graphics class I will use softwares like blender and unreal engine for projects and assignments. Can my current machine get me through the class or do I get a new laptop?

I tried blender as a begginer and modeling was fine although rendering is slow. I don’t really understand the point of rendering other than it being more presentable to show others? In the entire life cycle of a project do we need to do a lot of renders that would slow me down in this setup?

If I use unreal engine does it get much worse?

I want to upgrade the system if I need to, I just want to make sure it’s a good investment as I don’t think I’ll be pursuing gamedev as a career once this class is done.

Imagine using Blender in render mode, constantly. That would be a lot more UE5. Not quite that bad, but in that direction.

You will be able to run UE4, but probably not UE5, unless you set the scalability to medium, which will limit quite a lot of things you can do.

It sounds like a new laptop would really help.
