Help! Animation file is not showing up in the browsing option of Anim to Play in the Details panel (animations).

I’ve acquired FPS assets in an online course and I got the skeletal mesh down and followed along to the Details panel, down to Animations - Anim to Play to select animation file “Arms_idle”. In the browsing option, I typed “idle”. As you may know, typing this in will pop up “Arms_idle”. However, it did not. It was empty. So, I went to the Content Drawer and browsed there. It showed up. I dragged the file to Anim to Play but it didn’t allow me to do that. For your information, the instructor is using an older version of Unreal. I am using the latest version. Hope that’s okay.

If you know how to fix this problem, please leave a comment below! Thanks.

Hey @luhkm! Welcome to the forums!

If they’re using Unreal Engine 4, you may have an issue there. You can try right clicking on the animation and choosing “Retarget Animation” and select your character’s skeleton. I don’t think the default arms skeleton has changed enough to affect it, but if that doesn’t work… you may want to contact the course director and ask if there is an updated animation.

Okay so I went to “Retarget Animation Assets” then selected on “Duplicate and Retarget Animation Assets/ Blueprints”.

There were a bunch of settings that I didn’t understand so I cancelled the process as the button for retargetting asset was greyed out.

Can you guide me through the process of retargetting? Thanks

FYI. He is using 5.1.1 version of Unreal.

No worries @luhkm!

So if he’s using 5.1.1 there should be no difference that I can remember in this case. Are you using the exact assets he is using?

Here’s a detailed walkthrough for retargeting animations!
