Help - Aligning Images halts progress around the 50% mark when using control points

I’m brand new to this software and this process in general, so forgive me.
I’m practicing with my first project.
I have 30 photos.
After “aligning images” the first time it created 4 components.
In an attempt to merge those components I added 3 control points to all 30 images where each control point would be visible in that image. (hope that made sense)
Whether 3 points was enough, I don’t know yet.
The problem is that the software gets stuck around the 50% mark when I “Align Images” again after making the control points.  It didn’t crash, or freeze, the progress bar stopped moving.  The total time elapsed is still ticking.  At the time of writing it this is 19 minutes past the estimated finish time.  I have a decent system. (5950x, 64GB, 3090)

I know the best practice is to take more photos to bridge the gap where the software is not “connecting the dots” well.  That said, I’m practicing to scan something that is in public and I will not be able to get a full set of images with perfect overlap due to partial obstructions.  I’m trying to get this to work so I can do the best I can with the other project.

Thank you so much!

So restarting the program fixed the problem.  =D
Can’t get a good result though, I have the issue of “the projection error of the control point is over the limit”.  RC doesn’t care about how I see the control points should be.  It seems it might not be possible to overcome having good enough images.  I would figure what I have is good enough, but RC doesn’t agree.

Hi Kaizen77, this could be result of not so good alignment. How does it look in 1Ds view? How big errors did you get?
