I just found this community and the Unreal engine. I have been programming PHP for a couple years now and building text based games. But my focus has shifted to this type of gaming style. My concern before i purchase the unreal engine (which i find the 19 dollar price unbelievable) is how hard will it be to learn the C++ programming style and how hard is it to actually use the unreal system. I will be a first time user of the system and a first time designer.
Thank you for any input and I look forward to learning from the community.
I’ll let community members who are programmers continue to chime in on your questions about using C++ as I am ill equipped to answer those, but please let us know how your getting started experience is going, and what you find easy or difficult when it comes to onboarding.
The team has put a lot of effort into making the ramp-up process as friction-free as possible, however we know there are probably still some rough edges for folks to find. Fresh eyes are great at helping us identify the areas that we need to work on, and new user feedback is super helpful to us. =)
