Heightmap import crashes on Mac version 4.7.4

Hi,

I’am working on Mac OSX 10.9.5 and UEditor 4.7.4, During landscape creation step after openning an heightmap file, if you try to change the current directory proposed by import dialog box, UE4 editor crash or is going infinite loop.

Hello ,

Would you mind updating to the newest version of the engine and testing to see if this crash still occurs? If the crash does still occur could you provide some simple steps to reproduce the issue on my end?

If you are able to reproduce the crash, could you provide us with the callstack as well as your crash logs and .dmp files?

It would also be beneficial to get your system specifications so that we can use this information to determine whether it is Engine or hardware related.

Thank you,

Hello ,

I just downloaded the 4.7.5 and never again succeeded to crash the editor by importing heightmap files, but I succeed to put UE editor into infinite loop state each time I want to.

Unfortunately the only way I know to exit infinite loop is kill the process and that way I can gives you more information on stacktrace or logs.

Here is the detail procedure to goes UE editor into infinite loop:

1- Create a new level (File/New level)

2- Delete the floor mesh

3- select the landscape/manage folders

4- Check the “import from file” radio button

5- Move the mouse cursor over Favorite area or Filename area of the standard Mac ‘choose file’ dialog box

First strange behavior at that step:

You should notice that when you are moving the mouse cursor, the regular arrow cursor is replace by a cross cursor, but if you wait 2/3 sec he goes back to regular arrow cursor.

To go into infinite loop, you must only select different directories with favorite area. Sometime the first selection freeze editor, sometime you need more selection before a freeze.

Regards,

Since you are no longer receiving the crash, but still experience the infinite loop. I am going to mark this issue as resolved for tracking purposes. Infinite loops are usually caused by improper workflow or by circular references. If you know how to cause the infinite loop then we suggest avoiding the steps you took to get to that point.

With that being said, I am glad you were able to get around your crash. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please let me know.

Cheers,
