Height map import browse crashes UE

Hello

I’ve recently started looking into heightmaps but most of the times I cannot even browse and select the file (the 3 dots) without UE crashing. Has anyone had the same issue or am I doing something wrong? I’ve gotten it working like 2-3 times and I don’t believe I’ve done anything different when it did work.

This is the crash report:

Same problem here, been having this issue for a long long time, I don’t know why it hasn’t been fixed.

Literally the same problem. Ive tried reinstalling the engine on the native directory drive, usually its the C: or windows drive for everyone. I read that the crash might be caused by the directory could read external files, that werent in the same file location as the project or main engine.

ive tried this with UE5.3.2, and UE5.4.4… both version seem to cause the engine to crash when those 3 dots are pressed. It will also crash when you go to file>import… idk what happened, I cant think of anything that i did in the past, and the amount of times ive completely wiped my pc of all unreal and epic things, to get a clean slate

  • for reference, this issue doesnt happen on my laptop, where ive never had either unreal or epic installed, except on the one and only drive (C:) i have on it.
