A few days ago my HDD decided to die overnight, and needless to say I didn’t have a backup, because I’m smart like that…
Good news is, I have an older version of the game that I installed on a laptop to test for performance.
Now my question is…is there a way to recover my project back from the .pak file ?! I tried googling around and found a few topics where they mentioned that you might be able to…but how, no idea.
I’d rather not throw away 2 months of hard work, so if there’s any way to recover my project…
Only resources. Not the code.
Have you already tried to use recover the HDD? I mean, there are awesome tools around the net, that can recover nearly everything.
Or does the HDD not even start? Have you tried using it external?
I can’t help you with the .pak file though
Resources is still better than nothing I guess, I’ll still look around and see if there’s another way…but not getting my hopes up, thanks tho.
@eXi Yeah, it won’t even start sadly and I can hear a worrying noise inside when I shake it…I might be able to send it to a service or something, but I’m a student so I can’t afford to recover the files, and even that is not a guarantee, so yeah…lesson learned.
Yeah that is sad. Maybe using a raidsystem in the future with some mirrored HDDs. It’s not that expensive.
Dropbox or MEGA mirror also a good place to store backups.
