The title is literally the problem. I have Ryzen 7700 and 9070xt and I am trying to render a sequence but I get a blurry 200kbps mp4 file no matter what settings I use. I tried everything and at the end used the same project on my laptop with rtx 3060 and it rendered the video fine and in good quality. What could be the problem? I will switch to 5070ti if there is no other solution unfortunately.
Hello there @Waterman322!
Yeah, this one pops up around the community from time to time, and it boils down to the relation between UE’s MRQ and AMD’s encoder, AMF.
From what I could gather, UE encodes .mp4 in a low preset by default, resulting in the blurry video you are getting. And when it goes through AMF, the final result barely changes. On the other hand, nVidia’s NVENC gets a more optimized results, which explains why you are seeing a much better final render in your laptop.
To bypass this, you can change your setup in MRQ to render as an image sequence, by switching the .mp4 output to .png or .exr. This should result in a high quality sequence, which you can then encode using Blender or Da Vinci Resolve.
For a practical example, please check the video guide below:
