Have the player skid to a stop before turning

This is a bit of a strange question to ask. Ill address the main thing and I do plan to tie a skidding animation to it since that is half of what I’m going for.
But for this sidescroller I’m making, I want the player to skid to a stop before turning left and right accordingly.
The unreal gif is what I’m currently working with, just with a goofed up camera and the players friction letting them slide in the direction a bit before decelerating and running the opposite way.
The other gif is kinda what I’m trying to go for, he skids to a stop still facing right then once his speed is low enough then it lets him turn around.
Is there a way to recreate this with blueprinting? The mechanic, not the animation. I apologize for the wordy question, I’m very tired.
