Has Unreal on macOS improved?

I have been wanting to buy an M5 Ultra Mac Studio as soon as it released but Unreal Engine is giving me pause.

The last time I worked with Unreal was on an M2 Pro chip and it was unusably slow and bug-ridden. Not minor bugs. Totally glitching out.

I am wondering whether the situation has improved with more recent versions of Unreal like 5.8 and new M5 Apple chips and the upcoming macOS Golden Gate 27.

I realise there won’t be perfect parity vs Windows + NVIDIA GPU but is it acceptable?

I’m running UE 5.8 on a macOS 27 (Golden Gate) partition on an M5 MacBook, using it for previsualization work (not game dev — no packaging/building standalone game builds), you need the latest Xcode installed. Editor runs fine so far — no crashes, stable enough for basic previz work.
