Hi all, I apologise if this is in the wrong section! I’m just looking for a bit of advice re hardware and UE5. I’ll keep it short and sweet! I’m currently running a (Win 10 Pro x64) system with the following specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900
RAM: 48GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1574MHz
Motherboard: ASUSTeK TUF Gaming B450M-PLUS II (AM4)
GPU (currently): 2047MB Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 (Zotac)
HDD: (Partitioned) Crucial P3 4TB M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe Internal SSD - Up to 3500MB/s - CT4000P3SSD8
PSU: Corsair CV650 (2 x 6-pin connectors which for the 3060, I am informed I’d have to get an adapter for to make them 8-pin?)
I’m just wanting to learn UE5 from a couple of courses I’ve been looking at buying and while I obviously couldn’t do it on my current rig, I’m looking at upgrading my GPU but without breaking the bank. I’m looking at either a MSI GeForce RTX 3060Ti Ventus 2X 8GD6X OC or at the 12gb 3060, which are both around a similar price point.
As I’ve said, I’d just like to learn UE5 really and play around with some environments etc from the marketplace. Obviously I’d like the best performance that I can get so that it isn’t sticking, freezing and crashing while I’m working with it, but at the same time I can’t really afford a 4090 either. I’m realistic about the fact that this isn’t the best card on earth but what I’m wondering is if it will allow me to build/render fairly simple scenes and experiment with Lumen/Nanite etc?
I’d really appreciate any advice, feedback or suggestions on the card(s) I’ve looked at, or indeed if anyone has any other information they could share, that would be great.
Thanks all!
