I have been gradually learning and crafting this scene, starting with Unreal Engine 5.0.1 and ending in 5.3.1. In completing this project, I have gained an understanding of the complete 3D Graphics Pipeline, beginning from concept/vision, to modeling, texturing, environment setup, and post production. This scene is inspired by a photograph I took some years ago (attached below).

This short was the giggle I needed for sure! I love the inspiration taken from real life as it’s something that feels so natural to see mixed with the frog itself. It fits into the scene all too well and the small head turn at the end made me grin so big. I think you did a fantastic job and I hope we get to see more wonderful work from you in this coming year!
Hey there, thank you for your feedback, I greatly appreciate it! I’m glad I could add a little positivity to your day. Theres certainly quite stiff competition, hopefully its good enough to be considered for a spotlight
The competition may seem a little intense, but I assure you that you have just as equal of a time as anyone!~ I will be rooting for you as I’d love to see the little frog get some more love. Especially with the brief but meaningful storytelling we see!
As for the harbor itself, the use of color and the design of the boats and buildings remind me a ton of Black Desert Online. Minus the flaming tower in the distance, of course. Super rad video!
@The_M0ss_Man
Thank you for the encouragement and support (the little frog is grateful), hopefully others find it just as intriguing and meaningful
@PresumptivePanda
Haha yeah the little frog has some interesting stories for sure. I’m glad you find the video appealing! I had never heard of Black Desert Online before you mentioned it, but I spent a lot of time pixel peeping to try to make sure of the right balance of color vibrancy, pattern, and style. The background buildings were inspired from Danish, Dutch, French, and European canals, while of course my photograph of the South Asian harbor was a direct inspiration for remixing and playing with the visuals. Kind of like a little re-imagining of what that place could possibly look like if built up and developed over the years. I was actually hoping (naively), to even slightly approach my own version of Van Gogh’s palette. Its certainly cool to see though, how the aesthetic of my photo and scene approach can end up overlapping with a popular game style. Gives me hope that I am headed in the right direction.
