Guys, Give epic a bit of time.

Since the release of FAB there were many posts about it’s bugs and most of them were the same bugs repeated in a new post.

Some were very aggressive which made me think epic has killed the parents of some of the people who created these threads.

Guys,I think we have to give Epic a couple of weeks to solve these bugs and then report the remaining ones.

I think we all have to lower our expectations about getting a reply for our posts a bit and wait!

I think the community should learn to respect Epic decisions about some of the FAB features that were abused and mislead buyers to buy on not to buy a product.
Rating, reviews and questions were not used fairly and in many cases they were misleading!

I think this community should learn to respect each others more and increase it’s understanding about the reasons behind Epic actions and decisions.

I saw some people say they will migrate their assets from FAB to other marketplaces since FAB has removes some of their Favorite features which were not used in the right way by many.

I maybe wrong but as far as I know, Other marketplaces with do not give you 88 percent of your sale or if they do,they do not have the ability to attract such a high number of visitors everyday. So you may want to reconsider!

Personally I think FAB will attract many more clients for our products and it in the end we all will have more sales in a few months.

It’s a big project and we have to help it to improve and get better not destroy it by aggressive comments or actions!

We are all in this ship and the sooner it get to it’s destination, the better it will be for all of us.

So, Just give epic time! Lower your expectation and respect their decisions.

Wise words :+1:

I understand both sides. I just hope project FAB will work out soon.

I can’t say I’ve had a great experience since I migrated from Sketchfab, for me, it seems I’ve gone from getting over one problem and onto the next.
The set up has been a bit disapointing.
It’s been hard to not get at least a little frustrated.
But I’m not going anywhere.

Yes I did expect a lot more from such a big company. I did think it would run as smooth as silk, but maybe I should have expected at least a few problems.

I, like I’m sure many others, want this place to be the -go to - for anything you’d want for your digital projects, and I still can’t see that it won’t be.

So I think it has to be a bit of pushing and shoving from both sides, but all done in a way that gets Fab and us sellers to the best place possible.

Hopefully it won’t be long and the moody clouds will clear and the sun will light up Fab world…fingers crossed.

Yes you are Right, In the end of the day Fab Team hardly consist of 20-50 Employees. I feel bad for them as they are getting hate for the decision taken by Executives. Poor guys were forced to launch Fab before October and we got results. It is completely broken but might be fixed by hard working Team.

But Core thing is- There is huge Flaw in Fab Foundation, as its Primary Audience is for UEFN and Kids instead of Game Developers.

Here is Timeline-
1- We can see when it was announced years back then it was on alpha for UEFN and was working fine without Proper Search Algorithm, without Inviting Unreal Marketplace Sellers for Trial (there were some invitation but I am referring to all sellers) to prevent such horrible Launch
2- Artstation and Sketchfab were merged, It was another blunder since it cause flood of Copyrighted/Stolen/AI Generated/Low Quality Assets without any moderation since Fab Team is not large enough to handle such Flood of Assets (On Unreal Market there were 300 Assets Release every 2-3 days now you could assume migration of assets + new assets)
3- At Launch most of User Written Input was removed, In my Opinion it was done for making platform Kids friendly (I will try to expand it later)
4- It will result in less visibility for Unreal Engine Seller, currently I see lot of crap even with Unreal Engine Filter

So In my Opinion here is Problem in treating Kids as Primary Audience,
Heavy moderation- They are removing every user input possible and don’t expect Written reviews (If you closely Pay attention to Staff Reply then you would notice they directly avoid answering question and instead answer like we will improve rating system so that it fulfill this or that)
they are even censoring Smoking Images in Assets and labeling as mature.

They are planning to introducing New License for “Copyrighted” and “Stolen” Assets (By non commercial or Reference). Since the core audience is UEFN and Kids not Game Dev.

Kids Purchasing isn’t too much they would spend around (10-50). So Diluting Market for Kids is not suitable in my opinion

They are not taking it seriously, They didn’t market it as they should especially to Game Dev Audience for example they are distributing Megascan for Free but didnt done enough publicity to attract potential Unity Devs or other Game Dev to Fab since there Core Audience is UEFN Kids

Also in my opinion, I think that epic was not considering Harassment or Abuse when removing Q/A and Reviews instead it was Part of Some sort of Regulation for Kids just like Youtube does for Kids Video with Miniplayer and Comments off.

Overall I think it would have negative impact on Unreal Sellers since visibility decrease and a lot of Seller are Discussing 0 Sales from the day Fab Launch also a lot of Game Dev have lost trust in Fab Due to Copyrighted/Stolen Asset and other issues overtime the only profitable medium will be UEFN (and thats what i fear).

After seeing where Fab is heading in my opinion i think that Unreal Marketplace should be Separated for Fab (With its own Problem and Ironing out Problem with time)

I’m sorry but this isn’t how it works.

I absolutely think all comments and feedback should be respectful and kind in essence.

But Fab has impacted all professional workflows, which is affecting people’s incomes in a tangible way. This isn’t a hobby nor is it a video game.

The lack of professionalism on the behalf of Fab with its elementary approach absolutely deserves all the criticism. Needed to be complete and 100% as functional as prior services from day 1.

I can confirm for myself, had sales on 21 and 22 October but then nothing, i also had a client who email me that he posted a review star but nothing got displayed on the website upon refresh(that so unnecessary rule of min 5 reviews…). :pensive:

What most annoying is the removal of text reviews, the time taken my clients posting a review text on UE Marketplace, some were pretty long paragraph and very heart-warming for my first plugin. I only have 2 plugins so these text reviews are extremely important especially new sellers.

‘lower your expectations’

my expectations are just bridge which already existed. i understand your point about being respectful but i also understand why so many people are angry. fab has destroyed one of the best workflows in existence.

Totally agree.

This type of mindset is the reason why most modern software/services are released buggy and unfinished. At the very least they should have released Fab in a state that’s equal to what we already had with the Marketplace.

I’m not blaming the Fab team. I’m sure they’re doing the best they can as fast as possible. I blame the people at the top. The people who should have delayed it for another year but didn’t because of some reasons no one knows.

Few things
88% of 0 is still 0

We where already on multiple stores and Marketplace was bar far the smallest its now not even a blip on the radar.

Getting user reviews wrong isn’t a reason to remove the feature completely, if Epic didn’t want to do it right they could have simply integrated with Trust Pilot or a similar existing service but you REQUIRE some on store or otherwise trusted platform means to voice reviews not just assign arbitrary score so the whole review thing is a big mess

I agree people shouldn’t flame Epic. At the same time, let’s be real here: Epic is NOT a mom-and-pop that has never seen or done this sort of work before. Releasing an MVP that isn’t even V is frankly not acceptable. Fortunately for us Unreal Marketplace was such a minor aspect of the business its not really hurting us but if it was a competitor in the space and it pulled some BS like this you can wreck a company especially pulling this mess this time of year.

If they wanted to release a MVP here is how they should have done it

  1. Soft launch to a finite number of people or regions
  2. DO NOT close the working option until you sort the new one
  3. DO NOT launch a new store in the end of the year serious that one is just a facepalm that leaves a black eye … who the hell launches a store in the busiest time of year with no fallback? just … wow … the right time of year would have been late spring early summer as FAR away from this time of year as you can manage.
  4. MVP is a fine model for some types of software and other consumer products … for platforms and stores especially ones in an established and competitive industry its unacceptable. The market has base expectations that MUST be meet. What Epic is doing is harming trust and reputation and it will be HARD to claw that back if even possible

Voicing that fact that this poor level of quality and this approach to such a change is fundamentally unacceptable isn’t an unreasonable thing and frankly is a thing that needs to be done.

That said, users can and will be unreasonably spicy and I am sure a great many are. However no
Epic screwed up here and needs to be told that planly and simply. FAB should not have launched in this state, this is not Epics first storefront front they know full good and well that what they have atm is miles off even vaugly acceptable I really have no idea why they would have launched FAB in this state … you get 1 first impression as the new boy on the block its already an uphill battle they blew that hard.

All that said I do hope the find there feet
the idea of FAB is a good one but my god the implementation is laughably bad so I do worry that even if they turn it into mechanically a great shop that the damage they are doing right now will be hard if not impossible to recover from

Previously, it was very easy and accurate to find products on Epic’s marketplace.
Since the launch of FAB, it has become very hard to find products, and everything feels disorganized.
I think it would be great if they could revert everything back to the way it was in a few weeks.
