can i use unreal engine to create an open world game like GTA 5 or watchdogs or the witcher 3??
i create a small game to try and the file size is 300mb already ( only about 10 small building with little vertices) is there a way i can get around it?? i create it using blueprint btw.
Creating a game like GTA 5 or watchdogs is not an easy task, but it’s certainly possible.
The 300mb you see is not just the few buildings you have, it is everything in your project that needs to be loaded at one point. So if you have starter content included for example, this will add to your final packaged size.
Right click on your level and click ‘size-map’. This will give you an overview of how much that particular level costs in terms of memory. You can use the size-map feature on nearly every asset. So try it out on your buildings etc, and see how much memory they take
