Growing plants/flowers on water particle impact (VR)

I need some guidance on how I can play through a growing plant animation done in maya when I water my plants in VR. Right now i’m learning the basics and would like to know more on coding.

Here’s the game logic.

I have bunch of flower pots on a table that are “filled” with soil, the player can pick up a water hose or can to pour water over the pots, and over time (let’s say 5 minutes) the flower will grow and blossom at the finale stage (this is animated in maya with a mesh). How would i go about in coding something like this?
