Groom Import Options: Group contains more points per curve then allowed limit

Hello,

I’m trying to get a custom groom working for a Metahuman. I made the groom in Blender and after nothing else worked I settled for particle hair. The groom I had worked fine in Blender 5.03 and after months or trying to upgrade to a higher version of Unreal I thought I finally got some progress getting my groom to actually not be invisible.

Yet now I get this message on the Status File:

At least one group contains more control points per curve than the allowed limit (Max:255). Control points beyond that limit will be trimmed.

And yes, over half my groom is just gone, as in the lower half. I have searched the internet but I cannot find any information at all about these control points per curve or what I need to change in my Particle hair in Blender to fix this. Can anyone help me?

I also tried to make her hair using hair Curves instead of Particle hair but I couldn’t get that working at all.

Thanks for reading and I really hope someone can help me get this to work because I really want to be able to work with the latest version of Unreal and not be stuck in 5.03

Not sure if you’re still dealing with this, but I just had the same issue. My CV count (in Maya) was over 255, so after I lowered it, the groom imported correctly. Try checking if your hair particles have too many vertices per curve.

I’m dealing with this in Blender and I have no idea how to reduce the control points (you call them CVs) in blender. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks

I’m dealing with this right now, I’m praying you found a solution. Any advice?

If you are using Blender curves, some modifiers add subdivisions to the curves, just lower them, I didnt event see the diference.

can we please have a ■■■■■■■ dev ■■■■■■■ answer our questions about how to use the ■■■■■■■ software they made…because jesus christ there’s nothing on this glitch and yet they want us to learn this software…

Okay finally basically what this glitch is talking about is the ■■■■■■■ dots on your hair in blender. You have too many ■■■■■■■ dots on one mesh.

The solution is a couple of things

you can re-create the hair with lower keys so 5 instead of 15

or you can lower the steps on both the path and the view port display

or you can split the hair particles into different meshes and import each section separately as it’s own hair particle.

As far as to how to raise this limit because I’m making a movie not a video game I am unsure… Once again there’s no documentation on the glitches that happen.
