Hi everyone,
I’m working on a project in Unreal Engine 5.6 that involves tweaking a Metahuman’s hair, beard, and mustache – specifically, I’d like to extend their length directly within Unreal without resorting to external tools like Blender.
To this end, I have several plugins enabled:
- Alembic Groom Importer and Groom (for import/export operations, which I understand effectively).
- Groom Extensions For Mutable (Experimental) and Hair Modelling Toolset (Experimental).
I’m having trouble finding detailed documentation on the experimental plugins. My main questions are:
- Capabilities: Can these experimental plugins be used to adjust or “lengthen” hair, beard, and mustache in a way similar to Blender’s hair sculpting tools?
- Documentation/Use Cases: Does anyone have insights, documentation, or examples demonstrating what Groom Extensions For Mutable and Hair Modelling Toolset can do in terms of hair manipulation?
- Custom Plugin: If the current tools aren’t enough, what would be a good approach to create a custom plugin in UE5.6 that provides hair sculpting features similar to Blender’s Python-based tools? Any scripts, blueprints, or guidance on how to get started would be really helpful.
I’m open to suggestions, workarounds, or collaborative ideas to achieve native, non-destructive hair editing directly within Unreal. Thanks in advance for any help or pointers to relevant resources!
Best regards,
Zeno
