Groom binding moves my hair up by 2 units

This issue is getting annoying. Has anyone figured out where in the binding asset it looks to determine the origin point for alignment so we can hack this bug inside unreal without having to go all the way back into our exteranl 3d program to get this right? I already figured out the offset trick prior to exporting, but it just seems utterly stupid that this can’t be adjusted inside unreal. i can’t believe there is no way to do this inside unreal. There has to be a way. Some sort of override.
