I think it could be useful (I certainly would like it) to be able to display the number of features in relation to the active image/camera not just in the small 2D view on the left but also in the big 2D views on the right. Maybe to activate in scene with residuals & co.

well, you can see matching points among images in the right 2D views: 2D IMAGE tab / Show Matches. Their number is given just in the 2Ds view, that’s right.

Yes I know about the matches.
I find that just a bit unwieldy to use.
A number is much more straight forward.
And I thought since the feature itself already exists, it shouldn’t be too hard to implement it…

I think that visual evaluation of data is much more useful in our case. However, we will take it into consideration for the future, depending on the number of requests.
I can see the advantage of the visual analysis, but to me the way it is done is too hard for me to read.
I guess I’m not alone?
And it really only makes sense when there are few points to begin with, so the number would help to evaluate a need for visual inspection…
I don’t find the visual forest of matches easy to assess - once above a certain (low) number, a hundred or a thousand more look almost the same. The (tiny) number in 2Ds tells, at a glance -
and as Gotz says, hints whether it’s worth activating Show Matches in 2D at all.
But I’m likely to be needing to display 1Ds, not have to go to 2Ds and scroll to the relevant photo for a visual identification. As the number is already calculated and shown in 2Ds, it wd seem trivially easy to make it appear in 2D also.
So why not?
