Granting eliminations for storm eliminations

Hi there,

I’m trying to make a unique zonewars map but there’s a bug I’m unable to fix: When i hit a player on his green healt (“white health”) and they then get eliminated by the storm, i want the last player who hit them get the elimination. Now this part works, but when I only hit the player on his shield it doesn’t grant the last player that hit them the elimination. Isn’t there just a general function which handles both?

There isn’t one default function that treats shield and health the same for storm credit. The built-in “last hit gets the environmental elimination” only updates when damage actually reaches health. A hit that only spends shield never writes the last-damage instigator the storm reads. That is why a tag on green health works and a shield-only tag does not.

Track it yourself.

Subscribe to the character damaged event, not the eliminated event. It fires for shield damage too. If the source is a player, store that player and the time on the victim, whether or not health changed. On eliminated, if the eliminator is the storm (not a player) and your stored player is recent, award that player the elimination on your own score device.

The kill feed may still say the storm did it. Default attribution will not pick up a shield-only tag. The score you grant is the part you can fix in Verse.
