GPU keeps timing out and I've tried just about everything I can think of

Hello!

Recently, I’ve had this problem with unreal engine where if I do anything other than look around the level, play it, or move an already existing mesh, the entire editor crashes. This includes project settings, right clicking just about anything. In fact, anything with a drop-down menu anywhere in the app crashes it. This also happens outside of a project in the new project section when I click on quality preset. Just immediately crashes.

It always says “Warning: GPU timeout: A payload (0x00000AD8408448A0) on the [0x00000AD824A19A80, 3D] queue has not completed after 5.000000 seconds.” in the log files.

I’ve reinstalled my drivers, reinstalled ue5, tried other versions of ue5, changed the TdrDelay and TdrDdiDelay to 60, tried with other projects and nothing has worked.

My specs:

CPU : Ryzen 7700x

GPU: RX 6700xt

32 GB DDR5 RAM

1 TB SSD Memory

Windows 11

Any help whatsoever is appreciated deeply. I’ve been looking for hours for a solution and this problem also occurs 100% of the time. UE5 is just unusable right now and I really need it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey there @Misology_1! Welcome to the community! I’ve noticed an increase in AMD GPU timeouts and crashes lately. Some users have been getting relief from disabling Adrenalin/MSI afterburner, though this isn’t a magic bullet. Often it’s crashes instead of timeouts. I’m assuming your reinstall of the drivers defaulted your settings, but if not that’d be my next recommendation.

Does this occur immediately on launch or after some use?

This response I’ve made before helps many graphical issues of this nature, though is more geared towards Nvidia users so you may need to adjust the recommendations a bit.
