I’m also running a GeForce RTX 5070
I have been having issues with unreal since i bought this computer 6 months ago, but i thought they were minor issues until i took an Unreal class online.
As soon as my instructor had us blend 5 materials in order to paint a landscape, my GPU started to crash and i would get the “D3D device removed” error.
After taking the computer to the shop several times, replacing the video card twice, replacing the RAM, and buying a UPS, and doing every little troubleshooting thing i could find online including but not limited to:
disabling online subsystem
disabling UPD messaging
Updating drivers and switching to Nvidia Studio drivers
Turning off Hardware accellerated GPU scheduling
etc.
I have tested a new project, even one with a smaller landscape and i still have the same problems. If the GPU doesn’t crash, then the frame rate tends to crawl between 40 and 5. Im currently taking a class where people who are running far worse systems than i am are having almost no problems (and they are doing exactly the same things as the class is ‘follow along’)
Nothing works. I tried using unreal 5.5, i tried 5.6, i tried changing to directx11 and i think that might help but it ruined my landscape material and i couldn’t fix it so i switched back to DX12.
I’ve cleared the caches, i’ve reinstalled unreal, ive verified the installation…
I don’t know what to do, im getting ready to return the whole computer and give up learning Unreal altogether.
