GPU Crashed or D3D device removed

Nope, no longer working. Should I still try the underclocking thing?

Yes, under clocking is harmless for the GPU so no risk.

So I followed the guide and I did the steps for unlocking my voltage settings and I’m still not getting a reading.

Check if GeForce Experience or now the new GeForce App’s “In-Game Overlay” could be overriding msi afterburner’s settings. Try turning off In-Game Overlay if it is on and see if that works.

I don’t have GeForce experience, I have the new NVIDIA app, and I turned off in-game overlay and it’s still not working.

You can try these fixes, maybe something will work

Maybe steam’s community overlay could also be interfering.

Just look for MSI Afterburner fixes. It’s a widely used application.

Wait, should I be running a game while I’m doing this?

No it’s not required.

Maybe I should clarify. I’m getting readings for GPU, Memory, and Temp, but I’m not getting any reading from Voltage. Does that change anything?

You need to turn on voltage monitoring and control in the settings of msi afterburner

This reddit thread shows other ways to get it running if ticking monitoring is not enough

Will this damage my GPU? Most other things seem to work fine, I don’t want to ruin my new computer trying to fix this.

Undervolting is safe. You are limiting power to the card, in worse case it can become unstable and crash if undervolted too low, but it won’t damage the pc.

Overclocking is the mechaism that can be risky as it produces extra heat and can have higher voltages.

Got it, thanks.
