GPU Crash Dump Triggered Error

Hi, I’m new to using unreal engine and I haven’t been able to start properly because anytime I try to load a texture or mesh the engine crashes and I get the “GPU crash dump triggered” error. I use an HP laptop, here are the specs:

Windows 11

Processer: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz (4 cores)

RAM: 16.0 GB

VRAM: 8.0 GB

64-bit operating system

Graphics card: Intel Iris Xe Graphics

I actually have a lot of issues running a lot of high end programs and I’m not sure why because I’m under the impression that I have a powerful laptop. Is it just because laptops are worse than desktops or is there something internally wrong?

Hey there @CWRFTS! Welcome to the community! In any case, an integrated GPU like the Intel Iris Xe aren’t recommended for Unreal Engine in DirectX 12. You may be able to run the engine in DirectX 11. Here’s an article that can show you how to force your project to always launch in DX11 instead. Let me know how it goes!

Hi, my engine already opens in dx11 as that’s one of the things I tried. I did go to DefaultEngine.ini to confirm that the setting is set that way and it is. Thank you for the information, though.

Are you able update the integrated GPU drivers or directly adjust it’s settings? Do you have any overlays or other software that could be touching with GPU memory? Do other DX applications work appropriately? Try installing 4.27, does that launch without issue?

Yes, I can update the drivers and I did, but no I cannot access the settings. I do not have any overlays or other programs using memory. Other DX apps work, but I have to run them at the lowest graphical setting. I’m not sure about UE 4.27. I have a download speed of 1mb (my internet’s fault, not my computer) and I really don’t want to have to suffer through downloading UE again.
