Google is failing me: why is floor location always z 20? :)

Hi all!

This is probably the dumbest question ever, apologies. I can’t find an answer!

The example floor is always at a Z location of 20, and when I bring in characters they always are at the same Z location of 20 - that is, they are actually raised off the true “ground” of 0.

I’ve always just kept it as that. And I have noticed “floating” issues as I build things in the past.

So… should I be resetting my floors to a z location of 0? Same with characters?

I’ve noticed that. It doesn’t matter.

You can use 20 or zero.

You’ll only start to get strange artifacts when your ground is way off ( in either direction ).

It might be easier to set it to 0 so it doesn’t require subtracting / adding 20 for placing and scaling things.

because your floor is 40 units thick so your floor extends 20 above and 20 below.

To fix this, set your floor location to -20 units
