Glitch setting projectile velocity

I’m trying to set the velocity of a projectile after it is spawned but it doesn’t seem to be working, the projectiles simply drop to the floor in front of the player.

this is the blueprint, as far as I can tell from looking at other blueprints it should work

in this image you can see the direction and speed the projectile should be moving but isn’t, together they should be the velocity of the projectile but it just falls to the floor.

if any other information is required please ask.
