Glaring problems of Fab

Fab is polluted by AI-generated assets not tagged as such. But that is not the main problem - the problem is that no one in Fab staff take a moment of their precious time to even slightest look at this. This asset pack is new and easily identifyable as AI-generated just by looking at the title picture of it but non-existant QA just let it pass through without any question.

Now let’s look at another screenshot:

The problem here is MUCH worse. Screen was taken several hours after the first one and we see how new asset appear in the middle of list that assumed to be sorted by ‘Newest’. If it’s new asset it must be at the top, but it’s not. If it’s not new then why it wasn’t on previous screenshot.
As far as I can remember Epic Games is the only company that cannot implement this basic form of sorting for YEARS. Unreal Marketplace was plagued by this bug and now Fab.
This bug steals the visibility from sellers as their assets appear out of sight. It also prevent buyers from spotting what could be interesting for them to buy.

The staff needs to add a verified assets system before publishing it in the fab marketplace. The staff only needs to ask “Show your proof of the project file”

This seems to be too much to ask unfortunately. But even still - if what you are selling is the project file…how do you do that, exactly? If you are selling a .FBX I could very easily import it into Blender and show it as a source file.

Still though, tons and tons of AI-generated slop and IP-infringing stuff/asset rips…what’s worse is that it would have taken the asset reviewers no more than 30 seconds to google search and see that these assets were taken from other brands. Some newly uploaded assets even show the games they were copied from in the title.

Unfortunately what it means is that they are not doing any kind of asset review for originality whatsoever, because if they were this would have been caught immediately.

Yeah, those “hundreds of icons” packs felt too weird to me for it be an actual fad. And I’m not even sure if the music is actually genuine, as well.

But for the old marketplace, this wasn’t an issue for me. Granted, I only visited it once or twice out of an week. With this, I think that someone was overworked to the point where they’ve mistyped the code that affects the listing order.

Unfortunately stolen audio has been an ongoing issue even on Unreal Engine marketplace. For example see here

I have reported this asset earlier, also the seller, other sellers doing the same… and just like every single report I have made, I got a:

No Action Taken
After a thorough review, we determined that the content reported does not violate Epic’s rules or any laws.

I have also made some appeals about a seller who not only had their fake reviews (not Discord verifications) migrated to Fab, but they also were showcased during the first week on the homepage of Fab. This same seller was reported by multiple people before back on the UE Marketplace, and there is a somewhat old Reddit post about their fake reviews, yet no action was taken whatsoever.
Can someone help me understand how is it fair that this seller got their fake reviews migrated (6-7 review per product, the first two reviews are usually posted on the same day the product is published, sometimes immediately after it gets published), yet my 4 reviews which I worked hard to get were so simply removed along with the questions I also answered in detail which offer an overview of planned updates and other aspects of my products?

The appeal’s status is still showing “Appeal in review”, and at the end of the day, a dishonest seller had one of their products with 6 fake reviews showcased for two weeks I believe. Just like how multiple other sellers were showcased on the UE Marketplace before, only to turn out they were selling stolen work that they don’t own. Who cares? really? New customers wouldn’t be able to know that this and other products might have fake reviews migrated from the UE Marketplace because the texts weren’t migrated? No problem, such a minor issue.

This is my first comment on Fab since it went live, I feel like I have wasted so much time taking this seriously, and by that I mainly mean that I literally had to wait 5 years to be able to sell legally on the UE Marketplace, and just when I published my first product the marketplace was flooded with AI generated trash that Epic Games embraced and welcomed for reasons no one knows, although the community was drowning and honest sellers were overshadowed. But again, who cares? actual sellers and customers? yeah no worries, actual sellers and customers are secondary components of the Fab marketplace, what makes the Fab marketplace unique is AI generated assets, irrelevant, useless 3D models, AI generated sound packs that have no tags, 2D AI generated assets with no proper tags… these are the things that we should focus on, because we are positive, come on!

Finally, as someone with years of experiences building online shops from scratch working in-depth on both back-end and front-end aspects of each project, the only logical explanation I could come up with seeing the current status of Fab, and knowing the value of Epic Games, is that Epic Games is simply… well, “pranking” us. I have, as a single developer, built better shops with better UI/UX, much, much better search engines, and most importantly for budgets that Epic Games can burn in literal minutes. So there is no way in the world for me to understand what Epic Games have offered us.

Thank you for reading! And again, let us please focus on the positive aspects of Fab like the 2D assets category and how we literally need to search for Quixel just like any other seller, then open their profile, then search for assets. This can be solved with absolutely no effort; since you already show “Unity - Unreal Engine - UEFN” when clicking the search bar… simply add a Quixel button with the URL being the Quixel seller profile. This way it’s one click on the search bar > one click on Quixel > Search. But eh!
