I recently had an issue with this also. As soon as you click on the “Unique Link” from the github education pack page, it should redirect you to unrealengine.com where it wants you to sign up for an account. If you can’t get signed up for an account without it making you pay. I would just go to unrealengine.com and click on Sign Up and run thru the process. After you sign up for a (free) account, you can copy the unique link from the github education page, as it has a promo code at the end of the link. So just paste the link into notepad, then copy the promo code and go to unrealengine.com, then account, then redeem code. Paste it in, and you should be good to go. My problem was that the code that was given to me from github wasn’t being accepted by unreal. So i emailed unreal support, they asked for my code, then manually applied it to my account. Anyway hope this helps. Cheers!!!
So I have been accepted for the student pack for GitHub and have clicked “Get Pack” then scrolled down and clicked “Get access using your unique link”. My problem is that it asks for payment. It says it is free on GitHub unless I have to enter the payment but it won’t be charging me. Can someone please explain this? Is this a side with GitHub or EpicGames?
A lot of my friends have been waiting for 2+ months and have yet to receive their packs nowadays; much different from when I and a bunch of others registered during September, when we got confirmation in a day. Let me know if that happens to you too, I’m thinking they’re pretty much done giving out free packs
