Getting error 2738 and does not install launcher

Hi Folks,
Just signed up today and first time installing UE4, I have looked at the various trouble shooting tips posted here in the forum. Sorry, not a very techie person and was only able to do the dxdiag. Please see attached. I gave AVG virus installed on my computer. I had totally disable it and still can’t run the installer.

Can you please help.

Can anybody help please. I have been trying to install for the past 2 days and without success.
The launcher gives me 2738 error. I then went to Github and downloaded the source file. Got the setup.batch file running. After that it said installing prerequisites. Not sure if it did anything.
Then tried to run the GenerateProjectFiles.batch and it gives me an error that Visual Studio 2015 not installed although I have it installed. I then uninstalled and re-installed Visual Studio and still get the same error.

I am at the point of giving up installing UE4.10.

Hi ,

This error message is typically caused by a conflict with McAffee products. If you are using McAffee as your antivirus solution, please try disabling it prior to installing the launcher. If this does not work, uninstalling the McAffee product will be necessary. Please note that this may leave your system vulnerable to malware and it is suggested that another anitivirus software be installed in its place.

If McAffee is not installed (or has been removed) and you continue to receive the error, it is possible software remnants from the McAffee package are still causing a conflict. Please try the following steps:

-Search google for “McAffe Consumer Product Removal Tool” or “MCPR.exe”.

-Run MCPR.exe (http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe )

-Search google for “Microsoft Fix it 50842” or “MicrosoftFixit50842.msi”.

-Run “MicrosoftFixit50842.msi” ( Bing )

-Reboot

Once the system comes back up, please try to install the launcher again and reply back with the results.

Thank you, Thank you and Thank you. You are my saver. After 48 hours of struggle one post from you solved all my problems. Effectively, it was McAfee which was blocking the launcher. I did not imagine that many files were still in my computer. Got rid of it all.

I was able to install the software, now have to test and play with it.

I want to thank you once again as I was about to give up. If there was a way to rate then I will give you all 5 STARS.
