Hi i’m starting to work in ue 4. Would like to know what outside tools are needed for small game project (game guide line in nwn2). Are blender and c++ enoght do i need any other program?
Question 2.
What is minimum pc configuration (budget) that can handle ue4 well i dont need 120 fps to work. Anything above rock solid 40-45 fps will do well. Heavy rendering that is not often used will be left to be build in times i dont plan to use pc so will it take 20 min more than with 250$-350$ cpu/gpu makes no diference. Can amd cpu and gpu handle ue4 properly? And how is ue4 optimized for sli and cf?
There are tons of software that many developers use to make games, but you don’t really need all of them for small games. I personally have:
ZBrush
World Machine Pro
Autodesk 3DS 2015
Autodesk Maya 2016
Blender v2.74
Sculptris Alpha 6
xNormal
Zoxel
Crazybump
Visual Studio 2013 Community
aaaannnd UE4
A lot of these software cost a lot of money but you can also get student trials for it. However, the student trial isn’t really meant for stuff that is actually being sold.
UE4 does not yet support multi-GPU. For Unreal Engine 4 Intel i5, 8GB RAM and 270X/GTX 960 are recommended as minimum. Some people here have Intel Xeon’s or Intel i7s, 32GB RAM and Titan X’s which are required if you want to do the latest effects.
