So I have set up this basic footstep system, where the animation fires out notifies every time it hits a certain frame, which initiates a trace from the player’s location and about 150 units down. If it hits anything, it gets the surface type of that material and responds with an appropriate sound. It looks something like this:
This works absolutely great! Really. Except on terrains. Whenever I walk on a terrain, it just can’t seem to be able to get the surface type on that material. I feel as if this should be easy enough, and it probably is, but I haven’t done the terrain myself and I have very limited knowledge of terrains in general, so if someone could chime in with something, I would be ever most grateful!
