Get player hardware for scalability?

In the Scalability documentation it states:

A good “auto” feature is important as most players never use the options menu. To get this feature right, you need a lot of iterations and testing.

How do I get access to player hardware information? Things like number of cores, CPU Ghz, ect.

My guess is that this straight up isn’t possible given that the engine can run on a multitude of platforms. So what do I do? Because it seems like the only thing that I can do is set everything to “Low” so that none of my players are locked out of the game due to it immediately running out of VRAM and crashing or something silly. But it also states that players are unlikely to ever even look at the options menu.

Should I Just start on Lowest and force the player into the options menu at start?
