Geometry Cache Alembic Distorted Low Res Pixelated Mesh

Hi,
An alembic cache that appears fine in Houdini and Maya does not appear the same in Unreal.

Somethings happening on import or a setting somewhere and I don’t know how to change it.

I don’t know how to describe it other than the mesh looks simplified and pixelated compared to its alembic file (notice the whiskers geo).

I’ve tried ticking on and off ‘Flatten Tracks’ and get the same result.

What am I missing here? Thanks

This is probably because you made Alembic too small in houdini and maya

For example, your lion is only a few centimeters in size in UE, so its mesh is optimized

Try zooming to normal size in houdini or maya before exporting to UE

Amazing, that was exactly it! Thank you!
Is there any way to tell it to ignore optimization during import so scale doesn’t matter in this way?

I was having the same problem, I was exporting an animation from Blender in Alembic (.abc) and it was importing the mesh in Unreal with very low resolution, even lower that the lion mesh you show in the picture.

My solution was to change the Scale factor to 10.0 in every axis of the Alembic Cache Import Options window in Unreal, instead of changing the scale of the object in Blender

Then, in the Details panel I put the same scale (10.0) on the imported object and now the resolution is fine

This worked for me! Thanks!
