GenerateProjectFiles.bat not creating second file. (Integrating UE4 into Github)

I created a video showing my problem

For some reason, the proper files weren’t created. If I try to open the file anyway, n error message pops up when launching Visual Studio. I am on the last couple steps for full integration. I followed everything from the Github Integration tutorial. (A new, community-hosted Unreal Engine Wiki - Announcements - Epic Developer Community Forums)

Thanks for the help. It has been a bit of a tedious process for me, but I feel I am close.

I have this hunch that you didn’t pick the optional setting to install the visual studio c++ stuff when you installed visual studio 2015. Can you confirm by:

  • going into ‘programs and features’
  • selecting visual studio community 2015 (update 3)
  • press ‘change item’
  • you should get the visual studio setup, pick verify
  • check everything that says c++, to install
  • install that

Now you should be able to run .GenerateProjectFiles.bat. Please follow the rest of the tutorial to compile the engine.

Thanks for your response. I think the problem is I’m not sure which Visual Studio I need to install.
I downloaded express. I guess you have community? I’ve seen other people successfully use express.

I have seen your suggestion in other threads as well, but I haven’t had the option to choose what
it installs. I can never find Modify, and if I click verify it just brings me to the same screen as everyone else.
‘Repair/Uninstall.’

First uninstall the vs that you have now

Then download community:

Hey, thanks for the help thus far. The file was still never created, but I was able to build UE4 after updating Visual Studio. Everything seems to run fine, but now I’m having issues test importing apx files.

Is there some way to check that the Nvidia plugins are activated?

I’m glad you got it working! I think your apx question would be better answered with a new answerhub question and appropriate tags. You can check whether plugins are loaded by going into editor > edit > plugins
