I’ve been mapping and modeling with sUAS for five years now. I’ve been using Pix4D. More recently we’ve had more of a demand for models and after hearing great things about RC I started working with it a week or so ago. I must say model rendering in RC simply crushes Pix4D. There’s no comparison. I’m using the Stream edition.
I’ve done my fair share of digging around this community as well as the rest of the web to watch tutorials and find some answers. At this point I feel like I just need to ask a few specifics.
My first question has to do with target file size for Sketchfab upload. My account is limited to 200M. Is there a simple way to get to that file size other than trial and error (Simplify stepping down number of polys until I arrive there)? running through the Simplify->Colorize->Texture steps a half dozen times is a terrible waste of time. Not to mention the fact that if I blow past going under 200M I have to start the entire model fresh from the top (you can’t increment your poly #'s up, correct?)
Baking a texture is a new concept to me. I’m trying to use xNormal but to say documentation and tutorials are lacking might be an understatement. I’ve figured out it wants a high # poly count obj and a low # poly count obj but beyond that I’m at a total loss. So if anyone could point me in the direction of a tutorial that I might have missed I’d be very appreciative.
The last thing appears to be a bug and I’ll get the screen capture of the error but when I try to “Upload to Sketchfab” it throws a JS error and asks if I want to stop running scripts on that page. I did find a Internet Exploder patch for windows 10 but now Windows 10 is running Micro$soft Edge.
So my one question here is is RC using a web browser interface to log in and upload to sketchfab and if so is it using the MS version or would it use my default browser (Chrome) that I have selected in sys prefs.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
