General UE5 Query

If you are developing a Mac/PC project in UE, given the current state of UE5 and what works and what is not supported on the Mac side, especially M1 Macs, is there any reason to use UE5 or should we stick with 4.27?

The main reason for moving to UE5 is it looks much better, because of Lumen.

Having said that, it definitely does take a very noticeable hit on performance to run that.

if you arent comfortable diving into source code to solve deep bugs, probably should avoid developing on the “bleeding edge”. I.e. wait for 5.1 or later.

My question was more basic - Neither Lumen or Nanite are supported on M1 Macs, so is there any reason to use UE5.02 at the moment. I am more than comfortable working with source code but when core functionality is missing, are there any other benefits.

I thought neither Lumen or Nanite was currently supported on the M1 Macs, hence the basic question off is it currently work switching to UE5?

I’m not sure, actually.

Honestly, the best thing is to just try it.

Then you’ll know if it works / and / or is it crap
