Gameplay FPS drops as a result of opening blueprints in the editor.

I’ve noticed that as I open blueprints in unreal 5.7, even if I close them before pressing the play button, my in-game fps gradually decreases over time, pretty significantly (usually starts at 120 and then gets as low as ~40) until I close and re open the editor. If I open the editor and press play, the frames consistently stay at the desired 120 cap regardless of how long I play for.

This was not a problem in unreal 5.5 for me. Is this just part of working with the editor or am I doing something wrong?

Something strange I noticed some time ago in 5.4:

  • If I’m zoomed out all the way with a blueprint in the background = low FPS

  • If I’m zoomed all the way in with a blueprint in the background = med FPS

  • If my level is in the background = high FPS

I’ve come to consider it normal.

Very interesting, I guess it’s probably just part of the unreal engine experience then.
