Hi everyone,
I want to address a serious issue affecting us UE developers, especially those who have invested in the UE Marketplace for nearly a decade. It now feels almost impossible to find premium, high-quality content specifically designed for Unreal Engine with the current terminologies and filters introduced in Fab.
Game Systems? Smart Assets?
What do these even mean?
We already had an extremely shallow and flawed platform with the Unreal Marketplace, but now we’ve been given a poor UX experience that seems to cater to everyone except us. It feels like we’re being left behind. The filters, tags, and categories are not only confusing but also completely misleading. For example, Ultra Dynamic Sky is listed under Smart Assets > Scenes just one of many strange categorizations. These useless labels make it nearly impossible to distinguish quality content from the flood of AI-generated assets and copyright violations.
To make matters worse, the user experience is terrible. It lacks many industry-standard features and several quality-of-life improvements that were available just days ago in the Unreal Marketplace.
What happened?
Why did Epic release such a broken platform so early and with so little substance?
We urgently need better filtering options tailored specifically for UE developers, with distinct tags and categories to match our needs. The Unreal Marketplace may have been flawed and outdated, but at least it catered to UE developers. Now, it feels like they’ve downgraded an already mediocre experience to cater to everyone, severely damaging the shopping experience for those of us who need the content the most.
