My battle royal progress reset back to level 1 after recent update, how do i get it back to how it was?

The battle pass, quest, survivor medallion, and season career reset is normal. At the introduction of each new season (in this case Chapter 5 Season 3), Fortnite introduces a new battle pass, quests, etc.
To answer your question, unfortunately, you cannot revert any of these things, as they reset seasonally. However, if something else was reset (locker, all-time stats, etc.), you may want to file a support ticket with Epic Games to get those back.

It resets every battle pass. I got two friends already back at lvl 100. Iām at lvl 40. Get back to grinding!!! XD

yes i have never had my level save after the next seson so i am kind of lost

Yes, you are right! The battle pass resets every season to introduce new content and keep you interested. It can be a challenge to get everything in time. An estimated deadline for the season can usually be found on the Internet.
