Hey guys. Whenever someone on consoles (tested on PS4 and Xbox Series X) joins the game, after a few minutes on the loading screen, the game just closes without any errors or warnings. Has anyone ever gone through this? Any ideas on what could be causing it? The map now has 99k memory, a lot of assets, and Verse too. Already tried everything to fix that, i’m open to any ideas, thanks.
Replying to that in case someone in the future ends up having the same problem. After some great hours spent deleting assets and creating private versions, I fixed it by deleting one of my 3d assets from the map.
Glad you found it
Was that a stock fortnite or custom asset ?
It was a custom 3d asset made in blender
Was there something special about it? Like high triangle count, etc
Hey. So, I saw your reply earlier but I didn’t answered you because after I made this post and “fixed” the problem, I went to sleep. When I woke up and tried to enter in the map with my xbox, it kept closing and the problem returned.
So today, basically after 12h of deleting assets and logging into the game I found out more 3 assets that where causing this, 2 of them were cars (one low poly and another with a lot of vertices) and 1 of them was a table (low poly too). All of them I got from Sketchfab btw.
This last two days were quite frustating as I couldn’t find what was causing this and I didn’t have access to any logs on consoles or in UEFN to actually see what error was causing this problem in consoles. I really hope that Epic create some tool for debug or something like that, because its really difficult to have a problem in your map and not know how to fix/what is causing it and I would be very frustated to lose a Tycoon map that I dedicated 2 months of work.
How about the materials on these assets ?
I had already deleted the assets, but this made me curious. I went back to my old backup and started checking every material on each model that was having this problem. What I found out was that each model had at least one similar material, which is a transparent “glass” material. For the two cars, I had the same transparent material for the windows, and for the table, I had a different material but it was transparent as well. The same goes for the other models.
I guess the problem was never the models but the material. So, thanks, if it weren’t for you mentioning it, I would never have noticed. I will attach the materials below in case someone else is having this issue and is curious to know which materials were causing me this problem.
Edit: I cant add files here so if anyone wants it just shoot me a dm
Hey Gustavo, great job finding the culprit. Here is how you can attach the materials here.
Go inside them, select all nodes, and press Ctrl+C to copy them. Open a notepad and paste. Then attach the txt file here so we can check those materials. Thanks!
Hey. Thanks. So, when I imported the model it only came the “Material Instance” with that opacity, that was what was giving the error, i’m not sure I can paste it here since there’s no material
Oh, ok. Then its the GLTF pipeline that causes this. Yeah this is a known issue, avoid using the GLTF materials, grab the materials and hook them up manually, its way safer
Can you send the link of the asset from the Sketchfab so Epic can repro the GLTF crash on consoles?
Sure, can you dm me? I only have the materials download on my PC, i’m trying to find the sketchfab link
Its ok, leave the link here so someone from Epic can grab it. Just the page of the asset that caused the issues should be enough, no need for the material. (I dont know how to DM lol)
Me neither lmao, here is the link of the asset that contains the material that was causing the problem: Sport Car Low Poly - Download Free 3D model by Han66st [5d1253a] - Sketchfab . The instance material name is: “altz_kaca_001”. I dont think anyone from Epic will see this btw but its good to share if anyone else go throught this
