It’s pretty simple to reproduce this. Just download and open the GASP and open retargeter for either UE4 or UE5 mannequin. Select any cycle animation like Run/Sprint Forward Loop and in the Retargeter’s asset setting, turn on “Ignore Root Lock in Preview”. The target character starts leaning forward towards the end of the sequence. Exporting that sequence also shows the same issue.
This only happens on the UE4 and UE5 Mannequin but Echo retargeter works as expected. Am I missing something? I haven’t modified anything in either of these retargeters.
Just had the same problem while i was retargeting animations from UEFN (Game Animation Sample) to UE5 mannequin. If using provided by project retargeting file it wiill give you same trouble with mismatching speed that looks like target mesh is being dragged forward while foot planting is correct which looks like weird deformation. I found few fixes for this.
use automatic retarget if you need retarget from UEFN.
add Scale Source in Op Stack and set value for 1.065 or something close to match size.
drag source skeleton pelvis bone slightly heigher/lower (depending on skeleton) to mach targets pelvis.
Personally i would say the easiest and most reliant solution is to match pelvis bones location since the whole idea of retarget is to exactly match poses correctly.
