FM Decal Placement makes decal placement faster and more precise by adding a standalone Unreal Editor mode built specifically for decal workflows. Select one or more deferred decal materials or material instances in the Content Browser, then place, size, rotate, snap, and organize decal actors directly in the viewport.
Placement
Click to place a decal at the surface hit point.
Click + drag to rotate the decal while keeping it aligned to the surface.
Shift + click starts rectangle placement, letting you draw the decal footprint directly on the surface instead of relying on a fixed size.
LCtrl while drawing keeps the rectangle square.
Snapping & Precision
Optional axis snapping with configurable snap distance for clean aligned placement.
Optional vertex snapping with configurable snap distance, so placement points can snap to nearby static mesh vertices.
Viewport preview feedback shows the active hit point and nearby vertex snap candidates while working.
Control & Consistency
Configurable decal size in centimeters, decal depth, sort order, and optional auto-increase sort order for decal layering.
Per-material size memory remembers the footprint and depth you last used for each material, so common decals return at the right size.
Center pivot toggle for alternate placement behavior.
Optional auto random rotation for quick visual variation.
Actor organization options including folder name, decal name, and optional material-name suffix.
Placed decals use Unreal transactions, so placements can be undone normally.
Keyboard Shortcuts
C - cycle selected material
X - rotate +90 degrees
R - reset rotation
V - toggle vertex snapping
P - toggle center pivot
T - toggle auto random rotation
Esc - cancel the current rectangle
Ctrl + Z - undo placement
