Valve was kind enough to send me 2 pairs of Knuckles, so I integrated them into the Full Body Motion Capture setup I created a while ago ( using Noitom Hi5 VR Gloves ), and I have to say that the results are very nice.
Even though the Knuckles use touch capacitor sensors rather then IMU, they do offer an affordable and plug&play solution in case you’re going to use them for Motion Capture, plus you can use them for gameplay purpose thanks to the available buttons.
Doing the math:
Vive Tracker ( 120€x2 ) + Noitom Hi5 ( 890€ ) = ***1.130€ ***( consider that Noitom Hi5 are aimed towards B2B solutions rather then gaming, hence the price )
Valve Knuckles ( 299€ ) = 299€
Although I prefer the Hi5 accuracy and “feel”, Knuckles are fun to use and a great upgrade for a controller.
